Self-advocacy in the Workplace
Many people are hesitant of advocating for themselves in the workplace. Some don't have the right tools for self-advocacy, while others have to overcome considerable cultural and social biases to be at peace even using the tools. This is unfortunately to the detriment of their own career success. In this workshop, I highlight specific ways to overcome these hurdles.
I cover 3 main topics (roughly 1hr each with breaks in between):
- Recognizing how self-advocacy can position us to succeed, and reframing our negative perceptions of self-advocacy
- Authentically and effectively sharing our wins with people who matter
- Winning promotions, raises and new opportunities that are appropriate for our skills
For all 3 sub-topics, I walk through a specific framework in an interactive session. Everyone deserves to be rewarded equitably for their amazing achievements!
